Visitors to WRC often ask about the level of energy, commitment, passion and ministry demonstrated by this congregation. Why do they come to four sevices a week? Why do they stand, shout, sing or whatever so much? What is it that makes them stand out to our visitors and those that watch live video streaming? I would like to use an illustration that most are familiar with to answer these questions.
Most people understand quite easily the many differences between Police Academy Students, Rookie Cops, veteran Street Cops and a SWAT Team. They can understand the different levels of commitment, training, experience and dedication necessary to make the differences in those levels of police work.
The WRC perspective of Christian life sees the majority of the universal Christian Church body functioning at the Academy level with some at the Rookie level. Certainly, if they were to die today as true believers, they would go to Heaven. However, this level of Christian belief is not sufficient to adequately deal with the spiritual lack, death, destruction and disease in our world. People know that in the natural world the Street Cops can usually mantain certain levels of order and life but there are situations that arise that only a SWAT team can successfully handle.
Revival is necessary and meant to bring the Church to SWAT level commitment, training and ability. Sadly, many Christians seem perfectly content and satisfied to live a Street Cop or Rookie Cop level of Christianity. Then they wonder why they aren't prepared for the situations that come in life that only SWAT level Christianity would deliver them from and they suffer the consequences.
Why do thousands come to WRC for help? They know this is a place where they can find a SWAT team congregation trained and equipped to deliver the hostages from their enemy. S.W.A.T. stands for special weapons and tactics to the policeman but to us at WRC it is Spiritual Weapons and Tactics to achieve total deliverance and victory in life.
