When I began to become in love with my wife Mary, I dropped all the other 'loves" and pursued only her. What I felt about her in private became a passionate, somewhat public (I wanted people to know she was the only one for me, by my actions and attitudes) pace of pursuit. I found out what she likes, and what would keep bringing her close.
I really like the definitions of these words and I think they fit people in World Revival Church: passion is a powerful or compelling deisre for something; to pursue means to follow something in order to overtake or follow close upon; and, pace means a certain rate of movement or activity. We know God likes effort, thats why our pace is so intense.
Here we find almost the opposite to be true. We are pursuing a private devotion that matches our public passion. We have learned that our revival relationship will always be: 1) I am your God; 2) You are my people; 3) I will come close and live among you. We have learned that God likes to be pursued, and we know what keeps him around - love that puts Him first, and faith - a confident faithful trust in Him and His Word.
Pursue those things in our homes and we'll will have a private devotion that matches our public passion.
