The Roman poet Horace wrote, "Many heroes lived before Agamemnon; but all are unknown and unwept, extinguished in everlasting night, because they have no spirited chronicler."
When I wrote my first song I felt God was calling to me to be more than just a songwriter. God was calling me to be a chronicler. I was not to just sit down and hope to string together some cool lyrics or some never before heard melodies. I was to look at what God was doing in revival here in our local congregation and somehow put it into a song so we could forever capture that moment. Not only could we capture it but then those that were coming from around the world could be a part of more than just a song - they could be part of a moment in time where God came down and met with His people.
We do not need any more humnaistic, weak and flaky worship songs! We need people that are ready to write songs that help us declare, prophesy and proclaim who God is and who we are supposed to be! Songs that are birthed out of God encounters! Rise up spirited chroniclers and take your positions! We, unlike Horace, will etch these moments of God in history so they may never be extinguished and generations to come will know that God does come down to earth and dwells with His people!
And forever just started again!
Dustin
