Becoming and being a person of integrity

Becoming and being a person of integrity

As a parent or teacher you probably expect the respect of your own children or the children you teach.  You may desire the honor and loyalty of the people you work with or attend school with.  You may think that you deserve their respect but what should you do if you don't have it?  The answer is you are going to have to earn it or work for it.  You are going to have to earn what probably should be yours.  You earn respect by becoming a person of integrity.  How do you show that you are a person of integrity?  The same way God demonstrated integrity with you.  You become a person of your word.

Sadly it is often the case that the typical Christian's word is no good.  They often say things they don't mean or make promises they have no intention of keeping.  Believers may wait before the other person leaves the room and then begin to say bad things about him behind his back.  This is one of the biggest problems in Christianity.  You must become a person of your word.  If you say you are going to do something, then do it.  If you say you are not going to do it, then don't do it.  One of the things you don't want to lose is your integrity.  People will know if you lack integrity and will not pay much attention to what you do or say.  Once people's respect for you is lost it takes time and effort to regain.  So say what you mean and mean what you say. Keep your word.  Your word needs to be good and it also has to represent the Kingdom of God.  Remember children are learning about the Kingdom of God by watching and listening to you.  They measure God's Word by the integrity and veracity of your word.

The integrity of God's Word in you is the way to your own integrity.  Let His Spirit reign and rule as you reflect the truth of God in all you say or do.  Amen.
