Overcome

Everyone born of God has the power to overcome and defeat the world. You can overcome, but it takes faith and a commitment to see the things of God’s Kingdom happening in this earth.

1 John 5:1-5 is a great passage to help you understand the keys to overcoming. It starts by loving God and carrying out His commandments. The Bible says, “His commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world.”

Dove Foundation recommends 3 Blind Saints

Yep, it’s true. 3 Blind Saints is “recommended family entertainment by The Dove Foundation.”

Over 50 million Americans recognize the Dove Family Approved Seal, awarded to movies and other entertainment products that portray and encourage positive family values. It’s a powerful thing to have the Dove Seal of approval on this first movie.

“This is a humorous film that will entertain the entire family but also shows how the Lord sometimes works in mysterious ways,” reads the Dove online review. I’m glad they caught the humor - and the message I worked into the movie!

Lead like Jesus - 6 qualities to learn from

Want to be a good leader? Learn from the best! Take a look at how Jesus led and apply these leadership qualities to your areas of management. Here are six ways He led:

1. Jesus led by experience. Luke 4:18 was very real to Him: the Spirit of the Lord is upon Me… If you want to be a Godly leader, you’ve got to experience the Spirit of the Lord. Your experience of the anointing will help you lead others into a Spirit-led lifestyle.

What could you do with a little help?

There’s a counterfeit grace being taught lately. A not-so-amazing grace presented as a blanket to cover up sin, an eraser, a net to catch you when you fall.

These definitions work great for people who want to be worldly and are looking for a sermon to back them up, but it’s not the true biblical definition of grace. Ultimately, connecting grace to sin will hold you back from your destiny in God!

Pastor Steve's blog: God is greater than our hearts

You are here for one reason: to learn how to lay down your life. As a parent, this is how you demonstrate love. As a friend or brother, this is how people know you really mean it when you say, “I love you, brother!” You lay down your life for them.

If there’s bickering or strife in a church or in a home, it means somebody’s not laying down their life. If the kids are saying you don’t love me, it’s a sign you haven’t shown them what love is. They can hear you say it a thousand times, but until they see it – they’re not going to believe it.

Safe streets to walk in

Is it too much to dream of safety in our country? Of being able to walk the streets safely, with no fear of danger? I would like to pray until we rid this country of crime.

This is do-able. There are other countries where you can walk even late at night unescorted and feel safe. If God’s people would step into warfare mode, I have the faith we could enjoy the same safe streets in the U.S.

Attack and Rescue

What would you do if someone carried off your kid, your household and all your goods? Would you sit back and relax – or go on the attack?

Abraham faced this situation when his nephew Lot and his household were taken. He immediately responded to the urgency of the moment and went after the perpetrators, recovering everything that had been taken.

A lot of the problems we’re seeing in our homes and our nation could be solved if the people of God would get an urgency in their souls. The issue with our generation is we always give ourselves more time.

The call of a true prophet

The call has been put out in the spiritual realm for prophets – true prophets of God who are ready to be launched with a fresh message and on a higher level of spiritual insight and authority than we’ve seen before.

We are all called to prophesy. I Corinthians outlines accommodating the prophetic in our church services, and encourages believers to eagerly desire the gift of prophecy. There’s a difference between the gift of prophecy and the actual calling out to be a prophet.

Success

Do you believe God wants you to be successful? Too often, religion severs success from Christian living, but if you’ll take a tip from Joseph’s story in the Bible, you’ll understand God’s plan is for you to succeed.

The Bible says the Lord was with Joseph. That doesn’t mean life was a bed of roses. You’ve got to get rid of the assumption that if the Lord is with you there won’t be any trials.

See into the Spirit realm and believe!

A few weeks ago I took the time to pray especially for our ushers at World Revival Church. They work hard every service and rarely have a chance to receive.

I shared a few words with them that I think will help others who may need to slow down just a moment from the busyness of life and examine who you are and what you’re becoming. Sometimes it’s easy to get so busy doing things for God that you lose sight of the goal to become.
